Hello everyone
Thanks to all of you who came out and helped in our Post Setting event on Saturday the 19th
my hat is off to ALL of you!! “ WOW” what a great weekend…… close to 30 people where there…

All of you brought your paper work and all of you where on time! That was fantastic!

It took an estimated two hours to get all 12 post set. Now that’s Fast People!!

Then a lot of you went out and prospected the area for the very first time with your metal detectors and others with their dry washers and some of you even took home some Gold. Very Cool!!

Yes it was hot to say the least and yes we slowed down in the late afternoon but we did what we did and got it done.

Big Thanks goes out to Don Butkus and his friend for placing two posts on their own and it was Don’s Birthday. Thank you and Happy Birthday Don!!

I really want to thank some people here for their outstanding commitment to the Route 66 Gold Miners because if it was not for their efforts on Friday the 18th before the setting date it would have been a long day on Saturday getting all those post in.
Thanks to Dave Cheverier/The Coordinator and Frank Hubert/Foolsgold this event like I said would of lasted all day!! Dave was the one who plotted all the post to help get the ball rolling in the paper work department to get the claims filed, and Frank’s expert understanding of the GPS unit helped find the post areas to place for you guys. Mike Eubank, Billy DeBinion, and me Mike Beechler helped fallow these guys on their post plotting adventure through the thickest terrain to get these post set and in their position. What a day that was. It was Hot but it was fun, so thank you two guys for your great efforts to this club!! OUTSTANDING!!

Every one of you who helped out and stayed the night and participated in a last minute pot luck cook off all I got to say to that was "WOW" there was some great food to be eaten in the looniest place on earth.

Come to our next meeting to (I hope) see the Video that I shot along with some picture others have sent me and to hear about this wonderful weekend. “Please”

Pictures coming to the photo page on our web site soon.

I want to thank all those who went out on Friday and got all the posts set out and in place for the rest of us to plant them in the ground..It really made me feel like a true member to dig that hole and place the post in the ground..We now have a claim that we can say is ours..Even though it was HOT,it was just nice to be out there with a great bunch of people having a great time...My hats off to Dave C for that wonderful dinner saturday night..I hope that the next outing to the CLAIM will be just as much fun as this, the first one..Looking forward to many more outings!!! A BIG THANKS once again...

I want to thank all the organizers of this outing too.
You guys are outstanding. You made it easy for all of use that came out to help.
By locating and having the post in position all we had to do is dig a little hole and put them in.
By the way those were the best looking; most well prepared claim post I have ever seen on any claim.
Thank you for making this a very special Club outing for all of us, and thank you for giving us these a very special places to prospect.
I am sending my pictures to Mike B., and I hope that all the rest of you picture takers will do the same.
Tom and Cathy

Gotta give props to the various cooks, lots of good eats to choose from. Very enjoyable talking to the various members throughout the day. Unfortunately, not much gold found in our group. Hopefully we will get another "tip" next time that will "pan out".

One other special shout out to the organizers who came out to each group and made sure that they were OK and even brought them water. We were all supposed to have enough by ourselves, but this was a nice thing to look out for us. Classy.

WHAT A WEEKEND!
A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!
MY EXTENDED THANKS TO THE MEMBERS OF ROUTE 66 GOLD MINERS!!!

People (guys & gals) everywhere
4-wheel navigation
GPS classes on the fly, Locating claim coordinates
Digging holes, placing markers & stacking rocks
Setting up tents, stoves, pop-ups & whatever creature comforts brought from home
Metal detectors Sweeping the grounds
Dry-washers blowing dust devils into the air
Panning out concentrates, some GOLD being found
Catering service bringing water to those who were a bit parched out there 100+ degrees
We even had AAA road services out there repairing tire flats
And food, we had a bunch, camp cook-out & blazing bonfires
If you had forgotten something or needed equipment, there was always someone from the group to step to the plate & share
Great time just to meet & talk with others for a first time

I think the “REAL GOLD” found was in the great time, great food & great folks who participated!

Those who made it out there, GREAT TIME
Those who missed it, there is always next time.

DID YOU KNOW THE CLAIM IS ½ MILE x 1 ½ MILE, 480 SQ ACRES?
Big Bar Larry, his ATV’s sure came in handy

Late news,
as most of you were leaving Sunday morning,
Larry W. went off to a secret / undisclosed / secret / secret location to dig up a number of pails of dirt & found (2) things,
1st he was greeted by MR RATTLER (No one was hurt)
2nd 2 inches from the surface traces of GOLD
Wonder where this secret / undisclosed / secret / secret location is?

JUST A THOUGHT - CAMPFIRE TALK – NEXT CLAIM OUTING!!!

“AMERICAN FLAG”
Flag pole, something high (20’ – 30’ – taller?), portable/collapsible, & light on top to shine @ night
Mike E would also like to add a Rte 66 GM flag below.
Any folks out there with the potential of making something such as this?

“DRUM BBQ”
25 gal can, something portable/collapsible, closeable lid, vents & grates
There was talk of roasting turkey – pig – chicken, just think what we can cook up!
Any folks out there with the potential of making something such as this?

“ENTERTAINMENT”
Any folks out there with musical abilities that would like to perform?
I can’t dance, can’t sing, can’t see, can’t hear. I guess I can’t do much

“GEOCACHING”
There was a good number of folks with all kinds of GPS units. GPS crash training
If you had a GPS this weekend, you found out it was needed to find your way to the markers.

Just think,
if you found a location on or off the claim,
you could have set up a trail,
created a waypoint to your secret / undisclosed / secret / secret location.

Ever try to re-locate stuff in the desert after being away for a good time,
EVERYTHING LOOKS THE SAME!

This is where I was going with GPS
Modern day treasure hunt
Treasure could be most anything, Gold nugget, movie tickets, etc
Easy, moderate to difficult locations for “ALL”
Good training exercise to better understand GPS & possibly metal detectors
Any folks out there with this expertise to setting something up here?

A link to better explain what this is
